A new sculpture by former boxer Muhammad Ali is now on display in downtown Los Angeles stood on two floors and is 1,300 boxes, bags, five miles of stainless steel and two miles of aluminum tubing.
Ali's wife, Yolanda, California artist Michael Kalish recruited three years ago to a piece of the family after seeing his art on a plate that led to this sculpture.
With making a name for himself in boxing, Ali was against the Vietnam War, raised funds for Parkinson's Research, where he lived for decades and has raised funds to support related hunger. He also lectures on tolerance and racial equality.
The portrait of Ali is exposed at the Nokia Plaza until April 9 when he has to go on tour across the country.
Muhammad Ali has seen all sorts of tributes paid to her face over the years but the last work of art created to honor the greatest boxer of all time could well take the cake. Instead of the image capture Ali on a piece of canvas, many artists have decided to go around to use several miles of cable and more than 1,000 bags of speed. The finished product can currently be seen outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
One word: fantastic.
